As Miss World 2024 returned to India after 28 years, renowned designer Archana Kochhar was appointed the Official Fashion Designer for the prestigious event.
Her collection, inspired by the Make in India campaign, celebrated India’s rich tribal and regional artistry through Jamdani weaves, Ahimsa Silk, Bandhani, Varanasi brocades, Kutchi mirror work and more.
Contestants from Asia-Oceania wore floral ensembles in Ahimsa Silk inspired by India’s flora, fauna and Mughal geometry. Europe’s contestants were dressed in handwoven brocades, Jamdani, Bandhani and Kutchi mirror work, while Africa’s representatives wore delicately embroidered lehengas and Anarkalis featuring Lucknow chikankari. Contestants from the Americas and the Caribbean brought Bollywood glamour to the stage in jewel-toned creations inspired by Mumbai, embellished with sequins and stones on handwoven fabrics.
Through these creations, Archana Kochhar brought India’s extraordinary craft traditions to the global stage of Miss World.
